Obsessed: SoleMates Heel Protectors

15 May

SoleMates High Heel Protector Caps

Some folks head online to find their solemate. I guess you could say, that’s what I did, too. But I was looking for a different kind of solemate —  SoleMates High Heel Protector Caps!

Let me explain.

Have you attended an outdoor wedding and stressed about what kind of heels are suitable for the grass (or field, gravel, dock, whatever!)? If yes, then you NEED to try this product.

My sister’s wedding was held at a farmhouse on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. The ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception all took place in the grass. No sidewalks, walkways or flooring of any kind. Tip toeing around in heels all night was going to be tricky… but wearing flats was going to do nothing for my legs!

SoleMates High Heeler in Classic ClearI stumbled upon SoleMates online and could not believe my eyes. These plastic high heel covers snap on to the bottom of your heel and are designed to keep you from sinking into the grass.

They cost $10 a pair and come in clear, black, silver, and gold.  I ordered a bunch of clear ones and ended up passing them out to my fashionable stiletto wearing friends at the wedding. These funny things were a life saver! Talk about love at first step. I didn’t sink in the grass and they’re subtle enough that no one could tell I was wearing them. HIGHLY recommend! They’d also be great for graduations, backyard parties, the Kentucky Derby, you name it.

Poll: Which Bridesmaid Shoes Would You Wear?

21 Apr

THIS is what a fashion indecision looks like:

Bridesmaid shoes galore

My lovely older sister is getting married in a week. Since my sis is pretty awesome, she told me I could pick out my own maid-of-honor dress and shoes. A dream come true for any fashionista bridesmaid!

Here is a color swatch of my periwinkle dress. The color is called "Something Blue" :)

With much determination, I was able to find the prettiest periwinkle non-bridemaidy chiffon strapless dress out there at Nordstrom. Finding the dress was tricky, but with so many adorable heels in this world, picking shoes was even harder! There are also a LOT of ugly dyeable bridal shoes out there, bleh.

After months of internet research (god bless Zappos and Endless), I’ve picked a winning pair but am curious to see which ones my Style Me Thrifty readers would choose. Which shoes would YOU wear to the wedding? Cast your vote below!

The wedding is an outdoor, late-afternoon ceremony at a historic farmhouse. Informal. I’m the only bridesmaid so we don’t need to worry about matching other girls. Choose wisely!

Which pair of shoes should I wear to the wedding?
